Library Renovations Begin at Smith Academy

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Hatfield Community Members

I am excited to announce that work began on May 17 on the remodeling and upgrade to the Frank Abarno Library at Smith Academy.  The new library will include new ceiling tiles and lighting, new carpeting and all new furniture. Technology upgrades include eighteen new state-of- the-art computer stations and a multimedia sound/presentation system.  The long-awaited renovation will replace the old and outdated furniture and shelving, much of which is original to the school.  The project is made possible, in large part, by a generous donation of $61,500 from the Smith Academy Board of Trustees.

During renovation, library services, including all VHS classes, have been temporarily relocated to the computer lab. The renovation is expected to be completed this summer and will be ready when students return in late August. There will be a grand reopening of the library scheduled in September which will be announced to the public.
