Parents/Guardians to Receive Bus Stop Assignments in the Mail

Dear Parent/Guardians,

This summer the School District reviewed and revised our bus routes/stops through a collaborative effort between Five Star, our contracted bus company, and our administration, which included principals, school committee, the Special Education Coordinator, and myself.

You should soon be receiving a letter from Five Star listing your child’s bus stop for the 2018-2019 school year. Bus stops are assigned in accordance with School Committee policy. Students, who live more than one (1) mile from the school, and all kindergarten students; except those living in immediate proximity to the school, will be assigned a bus stop. Please note that bus stops are communal and not “door to door”. The stops are assigned based on several factors including: existing traffic patterns, safety of access, and closeness to population centers. Also, please note that the pickup times given are approximations and not exact times and that these may vary up to five minutes. You can also call your child's school to find out where your child's assigned bus stop is located.  A listing of all bus stops will also be put on the school website prior to the first day of school.

In addition, in order for the School District to get a better sense of the overall “day to day” ridership on each bus route, each family will be requested to complete a brief survey.   One you complete the survey, please have your child either return the survey to his or her teacher or drop it off at the school office. If you have any questions, please call my office. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

Sincerely,

John F. Robert
