Hatfield Education Foundations donates over $17,000 in grants to the Hatfield Public Schools.

Dear Hatfield Community

On behalf of the Hatfield Public Schools, I want to thank the members of the Hatfield Education Foundation for approving $17,352.34 in grants  for the 2018- 2019 School Year.  These grants will be used to fund field trips, educational programs, and materials for the classroom.  Some of the projects the grants will fund include field trips to Sturbridge Village and Historic Deerfield, as well as, to the University of Massachusetts for the “Women in Computing and Engineering Day” for Smith Academy seniors and juniors, as well as, a field trip to the Boston Science Museum for tenth graders and Chemistry students.  Funds will also be used to purchase materials for the school, such as LEGO sound machines to continue the robotics program taught at the elementary school, and to purchase math manipulatives for elementary students.  HEF is also providing funding to help pay for the spring musical, an artist-in-residence at Smith Academy, as well as, other classroom materials and equipment.

The Hatfield Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers whose mission is to enhance the educational experience for the students in the Hatfield Public Schools. The money raised by HEF comes from both an annual appeal to members of the community and from various fundraising activities. In the past, HEF has sponsored such events as a wine tasting, bus trips, and murder mystery dinners.  All money raised goes directly to schools. HEF is actively seeking community members to join their organization.  Those interested in joining HEF should visit the link to the HEF website located on the "Partner Agencies" page of the school website or visit their Facebook page. HEF meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at the elementary school at 6:30 pm.
