COVID 19

Dear Hatfield School Community,

Please see the following items concerning the current COVID 19 School Closure: .

  • Principals will be providing ongoing updates to students and parents regarding a plan to provide remote learning for all students beginning April 6, as well as, any upcoming events that have been either canceled or postponed, as well as, any school-specific items.  A link to the Remote Learning Plan, along with other remote learning resources is available on the school website. 
  • The School Nurse will also continue to update parents, students, and staff on public health advisory.
  • During the school closure, all students, staff, and community members are encouraged to stay home and practice social distancing and hygiene measures.
  • The Hatfield Public Schools will be off-limits to all but authorized personnel effective March 18, 2020 until May 4, 2020. During this time period the office hours will be open from 7:00 am until 12:00 pm at Smith Academy and from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm at HES. The public is asked to use email or to call with any school-related business. 
  • Staff who need to access the building for any reason are asked to first contact the office to make arrangements.
  • If you have active respiratory symptoms, a fever, or may have been exposed to someone who has Covid-19, call your Primary Health Care Provider for guidance.
  • Before entering the building: consider that we are all sources of potential contamination.
  • Upon entering, go to the nearest bathroom and thoroughly wash your hands. Best practice: use a paper towel to turn on the faucet; use clean paper towel to dry hands; avoid contacting bathroom door after drying. See the CDC link : https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/index.html
  • Before leaving the building: thoroughly wash your hands.When you arrive at home: wash your hands again.

 

This is truly a unique time that we are all undergoing filled with apprehension, fear, and uncertainly. I want to thank my administrators, teachers, and support staff for all their assistance during this difficult time. I also want to thank the students, parents, guardians, and community members for their understanding and support. The School Department will continue to share updates and facts with the community as they become known to us.
