Virtual meetings to keep parents and students informed during the COVID 19 closure

Members of the SA student council participate in a virtual conference with Mr Buckland

In these really unique circumstances, when we learn daily about new developments, it is important to try to provide a clear line of communication between students and families and Smith Academy.

This morning, staff at Smith Academy held a virtual meeting to discuss the ongoing situation and how we can offer social/emotional and academic supports to all of our students, as well as to each other. Following this, I met with members of the student council, to hear some of their concerns and also ideas on continuing to maintain and support the incredibly positive student culture we have already in place.

Moving forwards, in addition to both of these weekly meetings, I will be sending out a Friday email to the entire community with whatever updates I have received from the state and town, in the attempt to assuage concerns over many aspects of school life. As I receive more information, I will be adding to a FAQ document, that will be accessible to all members of the Smith Academy community to add comments to.

Please feel free to contact me by email at any time, with any questions or concerns that you may have and I will do my best to respond as quickly, with as much information as I have.

Thank you for your ongoing support and flexibility at this strange time.

Look after yourselves and your families.
