Update 4/10/2020

Dear Hatfield Elementary Families

I hope that you continue to enjoy good health and are finding balance in your lives as we navigate these turbulent times.

We have been transitioning into our Remote Learning plan this week with all classes in grades K-6 having created a Google Classroom. Your child’s teacher is using the Google Classroom for sharing assignments and news about your child’s class.  If you have not already done so, I encourage you to sign into your child’s Google Classroom.  If you need assistance with that, you can email the classroom teacher.  Thank you for your ongoing understanding, support and flexibility as we adapt to this new way of doing things!  Hatfield Public Schools is aware of the difficulty of the situation that we have all been put in due to the recent epidemic.  Parents, in particular, are hard hit, as you have been asked to take on the role of co-teacher in your household, while also balancing the normal day-to-day, full or part-time work in many cases, and cope with the many stressors caused by this health crisis--both directly and indirectly.

This brief note is to reassure you that your best is good enough right now.  The expectation from HPS is that your child's basic and social emotional needs be met first, and that schooling comes afterward. Please help your child do what work or learning they can do each day, regardless of the amount.  Your family's well being is what is most important right now.  We will take stock of where we are as a learning community when all of this is over.  That being said, we will continue to provide learning opportunities for your child to take advantage of.

If you need support, please contact me or any HPS staff person that you feel comfortable talking with.  Be well and know that we are here to support families, not to add stress on top of this already stressful time.

Please see below for important information:

April Vacation

The school committee will be meeting to vote on this on April 14 and a message will be posted to social media once a decision has been made. Details on how this will affect the last day of school will be forthcoming.
