Update 5/15/2020

Dear HES Families,

Happy weekend everyone.  I hope our families are well.  I read an article this week about looking at the bright side of being quarantined at home with loved ones.  As you would expect, one positive is the quality time families are able to spend with one another.  My hope for our HES families is that this time together has brought you closer in a positive way.

Thank you to those of you who completed our remote learning plan survey.  There were 52 responses, and the results were generally positive.  Eighty-two percent of respondents either agreed or were neutral when asked if they were satisfied with the remote learning plan.  We will continue with our plan for the remainder of this school year.  Our staff has been working very hard and I appreciate their efforts.  We also will continue to reach out to individual families at least every other week to check in and provide assistance where needed.  We thank you for your continued support of your child's learning in this unusual time.

The PTA dropped off gift cards to local restaurants owned by HES families as part of teacher appreciation.  On behalf of our staff members, I'd like to thank the PTA, and the restaurants for this generous gift.

It feels like warmer weather may finally be here with us to stay.  I hope you can enjoy the outdoors in the coming days.

Take care,

Lexia Reading

All HES students have been given accounts to the online reading program Lexia.  This program allows students to work independently to develop critical reading and language skills through individualized, motivating learning paths.  Students can work at their own pace.  If your child needs assistance accessing Lexia, feel free to reach out to reading teachers Heidi Poulin hpoulin@hatfieldps.net, or Sara Woodard sshapiro@hatfieldps.net.
