Update 6/5/2020

Dear HES Families,

Hello everyone!  As we head into the final full week of school, I have lots to talk about today, so please read on.

COMMUNITY SURVEY - The district has established a District Leadership Team for the purpose of planning for the opening of school in the fall. The team is being co-facilitated by Superintendent Robert, and incoming superintendent Dr. Martin McEvoy. The team is represented by school committee members, as well as administrators and staff members from HES and Smith Academy.  The team has created a survey for families to gather input to inform a comprehensive re-entry plan that is responsive to the needs of the Hatfield School District Community.  We ask that you take a moment to click on the link below to fill out the survey.  Your input is critical to the work of this committee.  Thank you!

STUDENT BELONGING PICK-UP - We will have a final day for student belonging pickup for those families who were not able to come in on their assigned day.  The final pick-up day will be next Tuesday, June 9 from 7:30am to 12:00pm.  Remaining belongings from all grade levels will be available that day.  If you have yet pick up your child's belongings, and you are not able to come in next Tuesday, please give the school a call to make arrangements for pick-up.  Thank you!

HES REVERSE PARADE- The staff at Hatfield Elementary would like to invite all families to attend a reverse parade on the last day of school, June 15 from 11:00-11:30, at Hatfield Elementary School.  Staff members will be lined up around the bus circle and driveway leading to the school to wave a final good-bye for the school year.  Families can drive by, honk their horns, and wave to all the staff members.  We hope you are able to come to this festive end to the school year.

TALKING TO CHILDREN ABOUT RECENT EVENTS - As superintendent Robert pointed out in his email last evening, the sadness surrounding the death of George Floyd, and the protests that have followed, have created a learning opportunity for our children.  School adjustment counselor, Charvy Chau has compiled resources for families who may be interested to talking to their children about race, and race relations.
