Good Morning and Happy Thursday!

I realize that it’s not Friday yet, but there are a few important updates that need to be sent out prior to tomorrow.

The first is a reminder that tomorrow, 12/4/20 is a half day. Because it is a remote day, that means that instruction will run until 10:30. Following that time, teachers are scheduled with parent-teacher conferences. If you have not yet signed up for one, please contact your child’s teacher.

Next Friday, 12/11/20 is also a half day for conferences. At this point, the plan is to be hybrid again starting on 12/7/20. Dismissal on 12/11 will be at 10:30, and only the AM session of K for Mr. Caira and AM session of Pre K for Ms. Guerra will attend.

Report cards are ready for pick-up. Originally, they were slated to go home with Cohort A on Tuesday and Cohort B today (Thursday). However, because we are fully remote, they are available for pick-up for everyone starting today, Thursday 12/3 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. They will also be available tomorrow, Friday 12/4 from 7:30 AM until 3:00 PM. Please follow the directions below when picking up.

  1. Report cards are in bins alphabetically by grade in bins out in front of the main office.

  2. Please only one person at a time at the table.

  3. Please wear a mask.

  4. Please approach the table, use hand sanitizer first, find your child’s report card, and use hand sanitizer again before leaving.

The School Council is interested in collecting information about the experience of the first trimester for students and families. We have developed a survey for that purpose. It will be sent out individually in a separate email tomorrow. Please only answer the survey one time per family.

Please see this notice from the town regarding hours at Town Hall. Please see this update from the town Covid Coordinator regarding the current Covid situation in Hatfield.

We are still running our supply drive for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hampshire County. A box will be outside the main entrance of the school daily until December 14th to collect supplies. Please note that this is a supply drive, and the CAC does not accept food donations. For ideas about the kinds of supplies they need, please see this flyer.

STArHS, an organization supporting the arts in Hatfield Public Schools, is running a raffle fundraiser. Please see this video for more information.

Please remember that attendance is taken every day, including Wednesdays, in students’ regular classrooms (not their specialist) by students completing their attendance form. Please make sure this is done every day.

Lastly, a schedule update. Wednesday, 12/23 is a half day before the holiday break. We will be starting specials at 8:00 that day, so your child will have specials at 8:00 and 9:00. From 10:00 until 10:30, we will be having an all-school virtual meeting and sing along. Links will be posted in Google Classrooms, and we encourage families to share computers and join together. We will be trying to do these community events at least monthly through the remainder of the school year.

Thank you,

Conor Driscoll, Ed.D.

Principal, Hatfield Elementary School
