3/5/21 Update

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday from Hatfield Elementary School!

This is a reminder that starting next Monday, 3/8/21, all students in first through sixth grade whose parents and guardians indicated their preference as in-person will be able to be in the building for instruction four days per week. Thanks to the hard work of staff here for making that possible.

Additionally, beginning on Monday, 3/8/21, dismissal from HES will be at 12:50, not 12:30. Cars should continue to line up starting 10 minutes early (12:40) so we can be as efficient as possible in our dismissal. It is incredibly helpful for whomever is picking students up to have the names of the students they are getting written in large, highly legible, print to show through the window. As good as I’m getting at recognizing cars, that still makes it easier for me and faster for everyone.

This shift to a 12:50 dismissal will eliminate  the end of day instructional time currently from 1:50-2:10. That means that except for Tuesday night, in preparation for Wednesday specials, there is no need for students to bring school chromebooks home.

Kindergarten and 1/2 day PK parents, as we continue the conversation about how to increase our students' in-person time, please take a minute to fill out this survey and provide your thoughts.

Next Friday, 3/12/21, is a professional development day for staff. There is no school for students on 3/12/21.

This week, information went home about our “School Store” fundraiser. If you have not seen it yet, you will shortly. Most of it can be done virtually this year.

Starting next week, the Wednesday specials schedule will be altered to allow for a STEAM guest residency. Please see this letter from Mr. April explaining it. Thanks to Mr. April for setting up this exciting opportunity for our students, and thanks to STArHS for funding it!

Please see this important reminder from Nurse Jean:

We are grateful for the diligence of families, students, and staff to help the schools be safer places for learning during this covid pandemic year.  The combination of facilities upgrades, masking, sanitizing, and distancing have greatly reduced the risk of covid transmission.

However, there is another measure that needs to be followed:  the instructions on the HPS Symptom Checklist.  This tool needs to be completed for each day of in-person learning and serves as a useful reminder for when to have children stay home and be tested per MA Department of Public Health protocols.  We ask families to do the following:

  1. If anyone from your household is experiencing new symptoms from the “checklist” please keep children home for remote learning, notify their teacher, and notify their building nurse to discuss followup.

  2. If you learn that your children may have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, please keep them home and notify their building nurse.

  3. If unsure, please keep your children home and notify their building nurse.  Building nurses may be reached at jhobbie@hatfieldps.net or melliott@hatfieldps.net.

Your assistance in promoting public health measures at home and in school as well as your continued communications with school nursing will help assure safety as we expand in-person learning.

Thank you for your continued support.

Lastly, please see this message from the Hatfield Rec. Dept.

Hello again Rec Families!

This is a friendly reminder that we only have registration open for one more week for our following programs: (ENDS 3/12)

Baseball(3-6), Softball(4-6) and Field Hockey(k-6) Clinics as well as our Team Sports Baseball (prek-6)  and Softball (2-6)

*****Something you may come across when registering for our Team Sports (Baseball and Softball) is we put this program on a wait-list only option strictly to keeping us from having to take and then refund money if something were to happen and we cant offer town vs town games.  We will have a program either way but this could change the way we charge for the sport.  So know that there is plenty of space we just set up the registration a little differently this year.  Once we have confirmed our playing status we will take folks off the wait-list and assign them to teams.  At this time you can pay for your player(s).  Hope this helps with any confusion.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!!! We NEED YOU!!! These programs can not and will not run themselves!! We need you to step up to coach!!! If you have or know any High School Students we would also really love their help too!!! Our mission, slowly but steadily, is to grow our relationship with SA to ultimately strengthen our overall Sports Teams here in town! No better time like the present to work together as a Community! If we have learned one thing this last year is it takes a Village!!!

Also a quick note that we will be offering our Summer Rec Camp this year!!!! Be on the look out for this notification in the very near future.

Follow this Site to register for any and all of our Rec Programs: (using a PC only)

As always if you have any questions please reach out to us at hatfieldrec@gmail.com

Thank you again for all the Support,
