Health and Safety
Parties
Whilst COVID numbers continue to improve, thank you for continuing to help keep HPS schools open. We are entering party season. Thank you in advance for continuing to remind your children about wearing masks, maintaining safe distances and practices when socializing and making good choices in relation to prohibited substances. Please also make sure that if your child does not feel well after attending a private party, you call and speak with Nurse Martha BEFORE sending them to school. It would be really unfortunate to have to cancel Spirit Week, Homecoming, Graduation or MCAS testing as a result of a COVID outbreak at SA.
Pool testing
We are happy to report that the state will continue to pay for pool testing through the end of this academic year. This is an important tool in keeping students and staff healthy and our buildings open.

Lindsay Sabadosa in Middle School CREW
During CREW today, Rep. Sabadosa spoke to the Middle School via a Google meet about what the state government is doing to address racial justice. Thank you to Mr Wall for organizing this event.
Project 351 Ambassador Ian Guzowski is running a clothing drive this week for Cradles to Crayons, an organization that provides children all around Massachusetts with the supplies that they need to thrive. Please consider donating clothes for children ages 1-12 including socks, but socks must be brand new. All other clothes must be in “like new” condition. There will be a box in the lobby at Smith Academy for anyone who is able to drop anything off.

- Information relating to MCAS testing was sent to all parents and families last week. As a reminder:
- Students are expected to be in school from 7:30-2 each day. Testing is followed by a lunch break and teachers have been asked to take into consideration the test experience when planning afternoon classes.
- Students will be told their testing locations on Monday morning at 7:55am
-
If you are planning on bringing and using your own devices for testing and not using a school chrome book:
All students were asked to complete a survey indicating the type of device they have/ need. Students who are planning on bringing and using their own devices must make sure that they have downloaded the TESTNAV link onto their device prior to setting foot in the building on test day.
-
Please be aware that if you own your own chrome book, you will NOT be able to download TESTNAV or use it during MCAS testing. Thank you for your patience with this as I can appreciate that this is incredibly frustrating.
Staff will be going through this with students, but this is to let you know so that you can also check with your child.
