HPS Covid Testing Updates

October 18, 2021

Dear HPS Community Members:

We are writing to clarify the  MA DESE DPH Covid Testing Program options available here at Hatfield Public Schools.  Please open links for details.

1. Consider one impact of becoming infected even if vaccinated:  everyone who tests positive, regardless of vaccination status, is required by MA DPH to isolate at home for at least 10 days; even if no symptoms are noted.

  • For families:  household members who have underlying medical conditions may risk serious illness if exposed to an infectious asymptomatic household member.

  • For schools: students and staff who become infected lose time on learning.

We strongly encourage all families to enroll in the complete Covid Testing program currently being offered at no charge throughout the state by completing the CIC Health Consent Form  (note:  the CICH “Learn More” tab has been disabled by CICH).

2.  Pooled Testing helps to identify asymptomatic infectious persons sooner in order to minimize viral spread in school and at home.

3.  Test & Stay  is a newer option this school year for individuals who meet certain close contact criteria.

Individuals enrolled in “Pooled Testing” are automatically enrolled in the “Test and Stay” program.  With this in mind, please note that no further action is needed for families who have already enrolled in the complete MA Covid Testing Program through CICHealth.  Families who have been considering both options only need to submit one online consent directly to the lab for each student with the CIC Health Consent Form.

To enroll in “Test & Stay” as a stand-alone option, please follow these HPS Test & Stay Instructions and complete the HPS DESE Test & Stay Consent Form.

Thank you for your support in helping everyone at school be healthy, safe, and able to continue with in-person learning this school year.
