Students can now earn the State Seal of Biliteracy at SA

This year, Ms Baranowski has been preparing several senior students to try to achieve the State Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. The Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy is an award provided by state-approved public schools and districts that recognizes high school graduates who attain high functional and academic levels of proficiency in English and one or more other world languages by high school graduation. The State Seal of Biliteracy takes the form of an insignia that appears on the transcript and/or diploma of the graduate.

What are the criteria for a student to earn the State Seal of Biliteracy?

Meet all graduation requirements & achieve a score of 472 or higher on Grade 10 ELA MCAS test or retest1

A score equivalent to or higher than A score equivalent to or higher than Intermediate High on a Department approved world language assessment

How can I participate and try to earn the seal in 22-23?

More details will be shared in the late Spring when Ms Baranowski will be assessing student potential and readiness to participate in this process for the school year 2022/23.
