Wood's Weekly 3/22/2022

Wood's Weekly, 3/22/2022

1.  Spring is definitely in the air!  It's great to have the sun shining for so long in the day.

2.  It's been great to be fully staffed, administratively.  Melissa Pitrat joined Hatfield Elementary School as Principal on Monday, 3/14/2022.

3.  We hope to be working on the Hatfield Elementary Roof in the very near future.  We have a small patch job over the cafeteria and gym where they meet.  Work should be scheduled soon.

4.   Many thanks to the voters of Hatfield who approved the purchase and installation of a new freezer for the cafeteria at Smith Academy.  It was installed over February break and it looks and works great.  Additionally, the Select Board paid the additional cost of installation and that is very much appreciative as well.

5.  Congratulations to Phil Pittelli for being nominated as Hatfield's choice for Teacher of the Year for Pioneer Valley's Excellence in Teaching (Grinspoon Award).  Phil has been a long time middle school teacher here at Smith Academy.  The award ceremony is on May 4.

6.  Athletic Awards Night is Wednesday, March 23, here at Smith Academy.  Congratulations to all of our athletes and their success this academic year.

7.  Teachers and administrators are taking a look at our math curriculum and looking to make sure we have alignment K-12.  This committee will eventually make a recommendation to administration for purchasing materials for next school year.

8.  School choice, Kindergarten registration and Pre-School applications are now available on our website.  If you know of any family interested in any of these please direct them to www.hatfieldps.net

9.  Michelle Forget will be joining Hatfield Elementary School on Friday, April 1, 2022, as the new secretary for the school.  Jackie Pelc will be moving to Smith Academy.

10 .  We have hired two new paraprofessionals, one for the elementary school for the STAR classroom, and one to support our middle school students in the classroom.

Have a great week everyone!
