Happy Friday from Smith Academy!

It’s been a great (almost) full first week here. Classes are rolling, students have adjusted to schedules, and we have our varsity home opening games for our girls and boys soccer teams. The girls start at 3:30 and the boys at 5:00. Come cheer on our Falcons!

We’re happy to announce that breakfast is now being served, free of charge to SA students. Students can get a breakfast when they come in in the morning in order to get the nourishment they need for the day. To do so, students should go to the cafeteria as soon as they enter the building before heading to their “home nest” room. If not taking advantage of our breakfast at SA, please talk with your child(ren) about the importance of eating in the morning.

Thank you all for your compliance with our drop-off and pick-up procedures, and for not passing the buses when they are stopped. It has been a smooth and safe start to the year in the drop-off line.

This week, our start-of-year forms went home. Please make sure to return these as soon as possible. Even though lunch and breakfast continue to be free, please make sure to complete the free-and-reduced lunch forms. The state and federal governments use this information to determine which grants we may qualify for.

This week, students took part in their second X-block. We’re really happy to bring both X1 and x2 blocks back. Our small school affords a lot of opportunities to our students, including twenty different clubs to choose from. It’s a unique way that we are able to make sure all of our students have a chance to participate and learn beyond the classroom.

Open House will be on 9/29/22 from 6:00-7:30.

Lastly, we are still accepting school choice applications at Smith Academy! If you have family or friends who may be considering our great school as an option for their child(ren), please encourage them to reach out. Here is a promotional flyer that highlights some of the great aspects of our school! Please share it widely!

Thank you,
