1/13/23 Principal Newsletter

Dear Families,

  • There is no school Monday, January 16th as we observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

  • The movie being shown on January 20 is the original Jumanji starring Robin Williams.  This movie is rated PG.  Please understand that we’re expecting students to sit/lay in the cafeteria and watch the movie just like if they were at a theater.

  • Thank you to Ms. Planeaux, our music teacher,  who has arranged for the Hampshire Young People’s Chorus to come perform for our school on Friday, January 20th from 10:45-11:15.

  • We are currently conducting our winter benchmarking assessments.  Our students are all engaged in being reassessed in; DIBELs (a reading fluency assessment), the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) which will provide your child’s teacher with both an independent and instructional reading level for small group instruction, and i-Ready math.  These assessments will be used to determine intervention in both reading and math.

  • There will be an unannounced lockdown drill sometime next week.  The purpose of this being unannounced is so we ensure students know what to do.  Again, this is overseen by our local and state police.

  • Save the date for our next All School meeting which will be Wednesday, January 26th from 9:30-10:00.

  • A friendly reminder that if there is snow on the ground, students with sneakers/shoes will remain on the blacktop only.  Students with boots, but no snow pants will be allowed to only walk on the snow.  Students with snow pants and boots will be allowed to play in the snow. Students can build with snow, but are not allowed to throw snow.

Have a great weekend!

Warmly,

Melissa Pitrat
