Congratulations to the Class of 2015

Congratulations to the 41 members of the Smith Academy Class of 2015 on completing your program at Smith Academy! This class has truly left their mark on the school. They have excelled in the classroom, on the playing fields, as well as, on the stage.   Both as a whole and individually, they are some of the finest young men and women I have had the pleasure of knowing. I was fortunate enough to be able to witness, first hand, the genuine camaraderie and respect the Class of 2015 share with each other by recently attending both the Prom and the Senior Banquet. I have no doubt that they will all pursue their dreams and make us all proud.

In addition to graduation, there are many other exciting events planned during June to help mark the end of the school year.  . On June 12 at 8 am at Smith Academy, the underclassman awards will take place in the gym,  and later, at 1 pm, the Elementary School Spring Concert is scheduled to take place. On June 15, the preschool will have it's annual picnic at the Lion's Club Pavilion. On the evening of June 17, Smith Academy will host the Spring Sport's Banquet. The Elementary School will hold it's annual spelling bee on June 18 at 8:30 a.m. The school season will culminate with the Third Annual Strawberry Festival, sponsored by the Hatfield PTA,  on June 20 behind the Elementary School. The last day of school is on June 22. Please come out and support our students.

This year, the Hatfield Public Schools will be saying goodbye to three dear friends, Karen Blanchard, Betsy Conz, and Giles Hopkins. Karen has worked diligently as a secretary in the office at Smith Academy for the past fourteen years. Betsy is a kindergarten teacher at the Elementary School and has been helping children to learn in Hatfield for the past seven years. She will be returning for a short time in the fall, but this June will mark her final kindergarten class.Giles has been inspiring students at Smith Academy as an English teacher for the last 34 years. I want to congratulate Karen, Betsy and Giles on their retirements. They will be greatly missed.
