Cold Weather Recess

With cold weather hitting us hard this week, we wanted to share our thinking about when we hold indoor or outdoor recess.
Generally, we will have outdoor recess unless the weather conditions make it unsafe. 

Rain

We won’t go out if it is raining steadily.  We will go out if there is a light drizzle.

Temperature

We use 20 degrees as our cut-off to hold indoor recess.  We DO take wind chill into account when determining this.  

Snow

Students will typically go outside when it is snowing, unless it is a very wet snow causing jackets to soak.
So it is very important to send students with coats, hats, and gloves/mittens, because chances are they will be spending time outside! Please label items!
