Weekly email: Feb 18

Good morning everyone,
I hope that you are enjoying some down time.
Please find some info about the week ahead, below.
Whilst the COVID numbers seem to be continuing to drop, I would urge everyone to continue to follow CDC guidelines on wearing masks, distancing and frequent hand washing. Please do also communicate any health concerns, or news of any travel out of state, to Nurse Martha.
Thank you again for helping us keep SA open.
Best wishes
Chris

Return to school planning
Current remote Students in Grades 7 - 12 will receive an email from us asking if they would like to return to in-person learning as part of a 2 day a week cohort.
Current A and B cohort students in grade 7 will receive an email from us letting them know that there is now space to accommodate A and B cohorts 4 x days a week and asking for confirmation (by Thursday 25th) that students will/ not be coming in 4 days a week. This will provisionally start on March 1st and will be confirmed next week.
We are working with staff on plans to increase 4 day learning opportunities to grades 8-12. Updates will be shared in my weekly email as well as during School Committee back to school planning meetings.
Academic Supports and reorganization of Wednesdays
Staff continue to work incredibly hard to support the SEL and academic needs of all students and I wanted to let you know some schedule reorganizations within the current school day, starting March 1st.
Grades 7-11 will be expected to take state mandated MCAS exams later this Spring. Grade 11 and 12 students will also be expected to take AP exams during the same time period. I will share an exam schedule in early March.
In order to provide students with additional live academic content support, there will be a few tweaks to the current Monday, Tues, Thurs, Fri schedule. These will not change the start/ end time of the day and are intended to help prepare students for upcoming tests. The Wednesday schedule will be reorganized in order provide additional live academic supports for all students. These changes will be communicated to students via Ms. Sacks during the week of Feb 22-26th and will come into effect on March 1st. Students will talk through the Wednesday schedule during CREW on March 3rd.
Homecoming, Graduation and Summer Talent Show
The student council and staff advisors are working on plans for the outdoor culture and community events above. We would be really interested to hear from you if you might be able to offer services, supports, facilities or outside the box thinking. Please email me with ideas/ thoughts/comments
