Important Masshealth and SNAP Updates
March 4, 2023. In March 2020, the federal government declared a public health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic including protections for preserving MassHealth benefits. As we transition from the COVID-19 Pandemic emergency, these benefits are now ending. MassHealth will soon return to the standard annual eligibility renewal process.
In the coming year, all current MassHealth members will need to renew their health coverage to ensure that they still qualify for their current benefit. These renewals will take place over 12 months. In order to help members maintain the best coverage that they are eligible for, MassHealth is working with its partners to make sure members know how to renew their coverage and are aware of other affordable health coverage options if needed.
Families who utilize MassHealth are encouraged to visit the Mass Health Renewal Site to renew their current plans and/or report any contact, household, or address changes by logging in and/or creating an account to assure the most current updates are received.
Families are also reminded that the Federal Extra Pandemic SNAP benefits came to an end on March 2 as an additional part of the transition away from the COVID-19 Pandemic emergency. Families who utilize Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits are encouraged to visit this MA SNAP Info Site for further information.
Also, visit the Food Bank of Western MA to find local food resources available for all families.
