The Board of Directors of the Western Massachusetts Small High School Basketball Scholarship Fund is soliciting your student-athlete entries for this subject award for the 2020 - 2021 academic year.  

Below you will find basic information regarding the selection process and a two-page application which MUST BE SIGNED BY THE PRINCIPAL.

WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS SMALL HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT - Permanent Scholarship Fund

In 1939, the Western Massachusetts Small High School Basketball Tournament established a permanent scholarship fund.  The interest earned from this fund annually provides the income necessary to award these scholarships.

NAME: Larry Briggs Memorial Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Any student athlete graduating from a high school in the Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire Counties and accepted by an accredited four-year college. The candidate must have been a participating member of the varsity basketball program at his/her respective high school.

BASIS FOR AWARD: The basis for awarding the scholarship shall focus primarily on the applicant's scholarship, character, leadership and financial need.

SELECTION CRITERIA: In making the selection, the Board of Directors will consider:

1.   Information contained in the application

2.   Recommendation from teacher, counselor or principal

3.   Recommendation from varsity basketball coach

4.   Scholarship abilities--enclose copy of transcript

5.   Financial need

DEADLINE FOR ALL APPLICATIONS: MUST BE RECEIVED BY APRIL 9, 2021 – FRIDAY - 3 PM
